Do You Have a Reset Button?

Most every electronic gadget today has a reset button. New homes have them on every electrical outlet, so instead of blowing a circuit, the outlet cuts off. You push the little red button, and PRESTO...it works anew. Blow dryers have them. Cars have them. Computers, cameras, phones, DVRs, you name it, they've got one. All 'for your convenience'.

And then there's us. We have all these circuits we run on that, for the most part, we don't pay particular attention to. Especially the thoughts we think. We've had these thoughts for so long, over and over, that we don't even realize we're thinking them. Take, for example, this little scenario:

You're sitting in your Quiet Place. You've made the time to just BE and you're thinking about some particular dream of yours. You watch the little movie play through your head, smelling the smells, tasting the flavors, feeling the rush. It's a terrific movie and you want to live it. Then...you hit this one spot...the spot where the movie screeches to a halt because your mind just hollered "IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN! GIVE IT UP, DREAMER. NO WAY, NO HOW!"

CRAP! Doncha just HATE when that happens?

There you are, all in your groove, when some ego-based voice shows up and ruins the fun. And that's where your movie always ends. You never get past that part, because the 'spell' has been broken and you can't seem to get yourself back to that place. CRAP. CRAP. CRAP.

But what if there was a reset button? Instead of always stopping at that certain point in your 'mind movie', you could STOP AND RESET. You could take 1 second and recenter...and then get that movie to play BEYOND where it's always been shut down. You could actually see the whole thing through...without interruption, and feel what it feels like to live the whole thing.

How cool is that? How cool to just have your own reset button, however you see it in your head, and push it whenever you need to.

Think it might change some things?

I wish other people had reset buttons with different mood levels and when they were in a bad mood we could just press their button and presto instant good mood. Cute article.
