I just submitted my first Member's Poll thingie...and it got me to thinking. (uh-oh...are you ready for this?)
How fantastic would it be to have a SearchWarp Writers Festival??? You know....a gathering of the fabulous people who make SearchWarp what it is. A weekend of chatting (NOT some kind of seminar setting; rather a casual gathering of brilliant people who share ideas, conversation, learnings, hugs, etc.) and visiting and meeting face-to-face. A sharing of energies. A boat-load of laughter. You know....a GATHERING.
Okay. It's all out in the open now. Fears faced are fears conquered. So let's move past it, shall we? Let's just give it a minute. See what comes next. Don't say "no" just yet. Okay? Okay.
I'm thinking that Bruce and Jean (our beloved hosts) have already thought about this idea. I'm also thinking that there are a host of others who write here frequently who've have thought about it too. Truth be told, (don't I ALWAYS?!) I think that it's not about logistics at all. "Build it and they will come." It keeps ringing in my head, always accompanied by a visual...and a big ol' grin. WHY NOT????
I'm posting this as a 'seed'. I'm putting it out there into the ether so I can gather the energies (that would mean YOU!) to see it too. I'm not 'wishing' it any more. NOW I'm seeing it. I'm seeing this wonderful weekend gathering where we can come together and share food and drink and laughter and heart....and expand our worlds together. I'm hearing music. I'm sitting around a fire with people I've come to trust, even though we've never met face to face. I'm THERE. Wherever 'there' happens to be.
I don't think it really matters where the gathering is held. Maybe we could figure out 'where' a mid-way spot is. I'm in California. Bruce and Jean are somewhere in the Midwest (I think). Dianne is in Arizona. Teresa is in Oregon.Ken is in Texas. There are folks from Chicago, New York, Washington, and Canada (on both coasts). I think there are quite a few folks in Australia, England, and various other lovely places outside the U.S. So it would seem that there may be some limitations (as we are so fond of labeling them) but the point is: if we want to do it, we CAN!
So then...I'm going to post this and see what kind of responses come through. Would YOU actually spend the time/money/etc. to gather together? Do you think I'm being overly optimistic? (is there really such a thing?!) Is it something you'd actually DO if the invitation was sent?
Let us see how much of a 'dreamer' I am.
(and yea...I'm gigglin' my butt off over this one. Wouldn't it be funny if this 'vision' of mine actually became a 'reality'?! Well, not funny like 'ha ha' but you know what I mean. Right? Oh brother.)

Top-level comments on this article: (5 total)I think it's a wonderful idea, Camille, and all I can say now is that if I had the money I'd spend it!BRAVA! Now...here's another little 'seed' for you: "IF" you had the money....can be changed to "I'm GOING. I'm going to make the choice and let God/The Universe/Whatever handle the 'details'."Now..let me just amend by telling you a VERY short story. Once upon a time, I had the huge desire to attend a day-long gathering with one of my very favorite 'teachers'. I did NOT have the money. I didn't have ANY IDEA where that money might come from. What I had was an intense desire AND TRUST. So I borrowed the money to buy the ticket. And then...I just let it go. (I swear to you, this is a true story!). Three days before the gathering, I received a check in the mail from a dear friend who'd come into some 'extra' cash. I'd helped her a few times along her path (at a time when I had lots of money), and when she came into this money, the first person she wanted to 'gift' was me. It just so happened that the amount she sent covered the cost of the ticket, my parking AND lunch. Go figure. She had no idea about any of this. She just sent the money because SHE WANTED TO. And so...I'd made the choice. I gave it up to the gods (or however you want to say it) and I left it alone. She did what she did "just cuz".Presto.Just sayin'.
I have thought about this too and actually mentioned it to Bruce some time back.... here's hoping!
That's certainly a provocotive idea Camille- I think it's one that we have all thought and dreamed about from time-to-time. You've listed the most problematic parts- Time will tell, I suppose, if these problems can be overcome. Thanks- Always- Ella
Sounds like a fun idea to me. I wonder where we would hold it.
Hi Camille.Maybe we would call it a preunion.I think you are right in that we have all thought about it. I surely have. And the fear of meeting face-to-face is real. I worry that I might disappoint in person. After all, it's so much easier to get the written word right. In person, I am quite shy. But I think it would (in the end) be great fun. And my personal vote for location would be the physical home of SearchWarp (and I don't mean the servers). Thanks for putting it out there.Hugs, DianneYou know, I'd love to meet you face-to-face, along with a host of others here. As for your 'fear'...well, what's the best way to put that monster away? (grin). Now, pray tell, where exactly IS the home of SearchWarp? I think it's 'midwest' somewhere...but not sure.
